Ahhh podcasts, my most recent media discovery (yes, I’m quite late to join the bandwagon, don’t judge me plz). I can’t pinpoint the exact date I started listening to these kind of shows, but it must have been roughly two years ago. There’s something mystical about imagining the faces and gestures behind the voices I listen to — which is why I looove love love to watch behind-the-scenes of some of those recording moments.
I’m more of a podcast girl rather than a Youtube one. I love the last one and I’m certainly subscribed to many channels, but I hardly ever check out my feed. I have no idea what it is that makes YT videos and me not get along — because it’s certainly YT, not videos themselves, considering I do love watching Instastories. Maybe it’s how easily I can listen to a podcast on my way to work without having to stare at the phone screen, or how I can get down to work at my day-job while listening to the latest episodes of the week.
Either way, podcasts are here to stay in my life, that’s for certain! Here’s 6 podcasts I’m enjoying a lot nowadays:
Emprendals, con Belu Barrague
What is it about? Emprendals is an Argentinian podcast (therefore spoken in Spanish) owned by the successful entrepreneur Belén Barrague, co-founder of the Argentinian clothing and shoes brand Sofia de Grecia. The episodes cover topics like digital marketing, Instagram tipcs and interviews with different millenial bosses all around the country.
Why I think you should listen to it? It’s really hard to come across podcasts that cover incredibly useful content like this in Spanish. Most people in Argentina can’t understand English to they point they will be able to follow a 40 minute episode of women talking really fast in another language. Besides, Belu’s story is incredibly inspiring from the start and very relatable: she started from scratch and created a truly organic community around her personal brand. Sofia de Grecia is not only associated with the clothes and shoes that are so characteristic of her style, but also with pep-talks about entrepreneurship, sales strategy, photography courses at the stores and even more! If you’re Argentinian, you should really check her out!
Keeping It Candid
What is it about? In their words, Keeping It Candid is a weekly podcast series hosted by Sophie Milner (Fashion Slave) and Millie Cotton, discussing current events, pop culture and everything else #millennial.
Why I think you should listen to it?
Because I love Sophie. Period. Although the podcast is quite new-ish, all the episodes have been all very interesting and packed with information! The girls discuss topics in a way that it makes you feel you’re sitting right there with them, drinking a cup of coffee and nodding all along because, how can you not agree when they make such strong points? *nods*.
The Influencer Podcast
What is it about? In her words, The Influencer Podcast is an innovative podcast that explores the secrets behind the ever changing trends of influencer marketing. It takes you behind the scenes with successful influencers, bloggers and industry elites in conversation to share how they engage, persuade and grow their unique influence.
Why I think you should listen to it? Julie is an amazing experienced woman in the field, and she always manages to bring to her show the most interesting guests around the blogosphere! All of her episodes are equally interesting, becoming a really great source to get up to date with the latest changes in the industry of influencer marketing. Besides, you get to discover new bloggers and influencers you didn’t know before!
The Mindful Kind
What is it about? In her words, The Mindful Kind shares exciting insights into mindfulness juourneys and provides listeners with simple and effective practices to incorporate into their own lives.
Why I think you should listen to it? Can I pinpoint first how soothing Rachael’s voice is? Because that is the number one thing I like about this podcast! (or, well, maybe second, content comes first right? :P). There’s nothing better than a weekly dose of mindfulness spoken through Rachael’s calm and collected voice. I like to listen to her episodes on the bus on my way to work, especially when I know I might have a stressful day/week. She presents tips and practices so simply, there’s no way you can not apply them!
Welcome to Night Vale
What is it about? Welcome To Night Vale is a twice-monthly podcast in the style of community updates for the small desert town of Night Vale, featuring local weather, news, announcements from the Sheriff’s Secret Police, mysterious lights in the night sky, dark hooded figures with unknowable powers, and cultural events.
Why I think you should listen to it? I am so so late to the party! One of my best friends has been listening for years and I decided to jump the bandwagon just a couple months ago. The description of the show might not seem that much, but each episode is creepy in a very different way, and makes for the perfect listen when it’s raining outside or generally during winter times. I highly recommend it!
What is it about? As seen on the site, Lore is an award-winning, critically-acclaimed podcast about true life scary stories. Lore exposes the darker side of history, exploring the creatures, people, and places of our wildest nightmares. Because sometimes the truth is more frightening than fiction. Each episode examines a new dark historical tale in a modern campfire experience.
Why I think you should listen to it? Favorite story teller EVER! The combination of great background music, Aaron’s skills and the stories themselves, Lore is one of my favorite podcasts when I want to feel the creeps and get that feeling of bedtime story (except I never listen to it at night lol).
